What types of payments are accepted?
Visa, MasterCard, debit, and e-transfer. Etransfer is the preferred method of payment. Transfers can be sent to payments@betternowcounselling.com ; no password required.
Do you direct bill?
Direct billing is up and running! Direct billing is available to those insurance companies who permit direct billing.
When is payment due?
Payment is due at the beginning of your appointment.
Are services covered by extended health benefits through my workplace?
Please check with your benefit provider for Social Worker coverage.
Is parking available?
Yes, free parking is available. If you cannot find street parking in front of the building or on the west side of the building, please park behind Shannon in the back parking lot. Park in the spot second from the right side.
Is your business located on a bus route?
Yes, the bus stop is located close to the front of the building.
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive a couple of minutes before your appointment time. You do not need to be early for your appointment. Appointment times do not start early.
Is your office and bathroom wheelchair accessible?
Yes. There is also a wheelchair-accessible washroom. There is wheelchair parking available beside the building.
Are masks mandatory?
No, however, please wear a mask if you feel unwell. It is preferred that you change your appointment to online or by telephone if you are ill.
Will my provider wear a mask?
Your provider will wear a mask upon request. Your comfort level during in-person sessions is of primary importance.
Do you offer telephone sessions or in-home visits?
Yes, both telephone sessions and in-home visits are offered. In-home visits are provided to individuals over 65 with mobility issues. Hospital visits have no age restriction.
Do you offer online counselling appointments?
Yes via a secure platform.
Can I breastfeed in the clinic?
Of course! Please know you are welcome to bring your baby to an appointment and all efforts will be made to ensure you are comfortable while breastfeeding.
Do you offer in-person counselling appointments?
Yes.
Are you an approved NIHB mental health provider?
Yes. Sessions are direct billed to NIHB.
Are you an approved Victim Services provider?
Yes. Sessions are direct billed to Victim Services.
Are both parents required to sign a consent for a child to attend counselling?
Yes.
How much notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment without a cancellation fee?
24 hours notice.
Can I extend my session time?
There are several options available to book an extended appointment time. Please be prepared to leave on time from your appointment as overtime during the session is not available due to the scheduling of other appointments.
Missed appointment time due to a late arrival will not receive additional appointment time due to the scheduling of other appointments.
What is the wait time for an appointment?
It is suggested that you book the first available appointment. In addition, please add your name to the waitlist. It is likely, your first appointment will be scheduled from the waitlist.
How many appointments should I book?
It is recommended that you book three appointments to maintain consistent appointment times.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Please be advised due to capacity, it is very difficult to reschedule your appointment time. It is likely your name will be added to the waitlist upon the cancellation of your appointment.
Pet Allergies.
Please be advised that there are small therapy dogs in the therapy room. If you are afraid of dogs, please let your provider know ahead of time and the dogs will not be present for the session.
Scent Allergies.
Please advise your provider if you have a scent allergy before attending your appointment.
